Degradation of Culture Among Young PeopleBy: Astrid (HI-4 Student)

 

Culture is one of identity and characteristic for our nationality. Indonesia culture is really nice; there are many cultures Indonesia has. The area of Indonesia is really wide so Indonesia has many kind of culture from sabang until merauke which every area have different culture and that the culture is really beautiful nowadays young people in Indonesia is left their culture. This is can make our culture is degradation. In the past culture was used in many ceremonial or in some activity. Many people in the past were really followed the way of culture. Different with now young generation is just view people do or follow the way of culture. Why this is happen? There is many several reason and factors why this happen in young people. Degradation of culture among young people in Indonesia is influenced by bad western life style.

     Teenager is more interested to western life style, it means the young generation is do not think that the culture of Indonesia is our identity and our characteristic , they are more interested to follow the western life style. The teenager thinks the western life style is modern then our culture, they think our culture is ancient. The western life style is really influence they mind causes they follow it and then they are try in their life style. The western life style is simple than Indonesian culture, it means the western life style is simple to do it, like in fashion. There are many culture costumes of Indonesia among from that is not simple to use it. The teenager can influenced by the western  life style because there is  just little notification about culture of Indonesia compare with the entry of western life style or the entry of culture foreign which many factor can change mind of the teenager. The teenager think more easily and modern to use western life style.

     The traditional culture has been changed by new teenager style, it means the traditional culture is replaced or change by the new teenager style. Teenagers neglect the traditional culture. Now the teenagers do not follow the tradition again and then they didn't know about the way of tradition culture so this is caused make the teenager neglected their tradition culture. Teenager neglected their traditional culture support by their activity, it means the teenager have many activity which make there's no time to do traditional culture or traditional ceremony. Teenagers influenced by advanced of technology, now with the advance of global world of course make the advanced of technology more develop. Many kind of the technology can influence the teenager. The teenager can influenced by the advanced of technology because from that the teenager forget or change their mind about traditional culture and then change that like to western life style. From the advanced of technology the culture from foreign or western life style is strongly to entry in their mind then their culture. Teenager follow the modern era then their culture tend to in their fashion and in their life style. With modern era, teenager have own style and not use the style of their culture. The advance of modern era make the teenager follows it and change their culture or to left their culture.  Teenager always change their life style because for them life style is important for support their style, usually the teenager follow style which modern or in this era because they not want left style from the era. Teenager follow style in every era make the culture of Indonesia there is no to conducting their culture. Like now many cultures from foreign country entry to the teenager or influence the teenager, for example 'harajuku style'. Harajuku style is culture from Japan but with young generation in Indonesia they are really like with culture of Japan like their use kimono which tradition custom from Japan they are also follow event or attend which theme ' Japanese style '. The teenager think follow  ' '  'Japanese style ' is modern then Indonesian style which have tradition custom ' kebaya '. The young people more proud if they use Japanese style from foreign culture like ' kimono ' then Indonesian style from our culture among from young people is not proud with that because they think that is ancient. This is make the teenager influences and then make they are forget what they culture and the young generation not proud with their culture which that is their identity of  their nationality

 
 

Television influences teenager to adopt foreign culture, it means the television gives bad influences to the teenager. Teenager watch other culture from television , now in the television there is many program which show  culture from other country like in drama or in serial. The drama or series which show culture from other countries can influence the teenagers who want to follow it, for example in drama or serial they show culture from Korea and Japan. From dramas and series, teenagers see new culture they like very much, and they want to copy them. However at the same time, they neglect their own culture. Teenagers can make the culture of Indonesia lost its identity. Many factors can change the teenagers' mind. There are so many influences from other cultures and then it makes some of young people to change their mind or follow other countries' culture. This can make our culture lost. This is the teenager make the culture of Indonesia lost identity. If this happens it is really dangers for our nationality. We do not have characteristic of our nationality.

     In short teenager is more interested to western life style and they are several factors which influences it means culture in among young people in Indonesia was degradation

RIDING A BICYCLE FOR A BETTER LIFE By: Anisaul (HI-4 Student)

Nowadays, many cars and motorcycles are used in the world. Car and motorcycle are ordinary things because many people use them. People prefer to drive a car or ride a motorcycle than to ride a bicycle because car and motorcycle are faster and more modern than bicycle. On the other hand, they don’t know that bicycle offer some advantages for them. They never think that bicycle will give them a better life. Many people know that riding bicycle is good for physical fitness since it is good for their heart and metabolism. And it is just for starter. Riding a bicycle within the city offers more advantages for them. Riding a bicycle within the city is healthy, economical, and useful.

The first point, which we should know, is that riding a bicycle within the city is healthy. By riding a bicycle, we can improve our health quality. If we choose riding a bicycle within the city as our habit, we will get an improvement on our body health quality. Riding a bicycle also makes blood distribution works better. It means the transportation system on our body will work better. The oxygen and the nutrient will be distributed well and our body will get what it needs. Besides that, riding a bicycle can give lower weight. Nowadays, many women from different countries compete to decrease their weight because they don’t like their body. They do everything include some bad ways such as drink many medicine and do extreme diet which are not good for their health. If they can find another option which is more save for their body to decrease their weight, why don’t they do it? Riding a bicycle not only give them lower weight, but also be a health way to do it. And this way not only can be used by women who feel unsatisfied with their body, but also can be used by people with obesity problem. The other advantage is that riding a bicycle is good for our heart. Our heart is practiced to be stronger when we riding a bicycle.

According to the research from Leipzig University in Germany riding a bicycle is also good for someone who has congestive heart failure (CHF) because by riding a bicycle the body will do the regeneration of muscle cell and form new blood vessel. Dr. Axel Linke from Leipzig University said that patient who has congestive heart failure (CHF) needs sport because after the patient doing sport, the heart cells, which are less because of congestive heart failure, will work better. They, who ride a bicycle, will has more ‘Progenitor’ cells than they who do not. The Progenitor cell will help their body to produce new muscle cells. And it is also used for regeneration, formation and recovery of blood vessel. And this situation will help patient to have a better condition.

Riding a bicycle also can be a choice to decrease stress. When people ride their bicycle, they can enjoy the scenery around them. This situation makes people fun and happy. And when someone can enjoy their world, they will be far from stress. One thing which we must remember is that riding a bicycle is an exercise for our body. Now, people rarely do an exercise. Most of them, who spend their time to sit on their chair, believe that time is very important for their life. They are too busy to do sport though they know that they need an exercise to keep them fit. That is why riding a bicycle to work or to go everywhere can be an alternative for them. By riding a bicycle on their daily activities, they also do the exercise which is very important for them.

The second point is that riding a bicycle is very economical. People can save their money by riding a bicycle because a bicycle doesn’t need fuel. It means that people do not need to spend their money to buy fuel. Besides that, a bicycle is different with a car or a motorcycle which need much money for its maintenance. A bicycle only needs a little money for its maintenance. The other case which must be paid attention is that a bicycle is free from parking fee. People can go and park everywhere with their bicycle and they do not need to pay parking fee.

The last point is that riding a bicycle within the city is very useful for the society, the environment, and us. Different with other vehicle which uses fuel, bicycle is a vehicle which is very friendly with the environment because it doesn’t produce air pollution. No pollution means nobody will get problem with their health. And it means that many people will be more healthy if they riding a bicycle. No pollution also means that no carbon dioxide which will be dangerous for the ozone. This fact is very important for the earth because bicycle can help them to minimize the global warming which is very dangerous for all of human. The other advantage, when people riding a bicycle, is that they do not need to face the traffic jam. People can go everywhere and they are free from the traffic jam because bicycle can help them to find some alternative way to run away from the traffic jam. The other fact is that in the city, bicycle is faster than car for distance under 5 kilometers. It happens because bicycle is simpler and smaller than car. It means a bicycle only needs a little space. And it is easier for bicycle to go everywhere. A car can have a traffic jam while a bicycle can’t. Can we imagine how many times which we can save?

Riding bicycle will give a better life for people because riding a bicycle gives people some advantages which are very important for their life. Riding a bicycle is healthy, economical, and very useful. Besides that, riding a bicycle is also very useful for our environment because it can help people to save the environment. That is why it is better for people to start riding a bicycle from now. People will get many advantages with riding a bicycle because it is very healthy, economical, and useful.

In short, riding bicycle has several benefits; not only for our health, and environment, but also for our financial factor. Therefore, we should ride bicycle as soon as possible to get the benefits.

SBI (or RSBI) Vs REGULAR School

New school Year just began. Students and parents have just started their new class. Some are proud, some are indifferent. Those proud students are who can attend their choice of school. Others are indifferent since they were not accepted in their favorable school. They must find other school, second choice government school or private school. What looks different now, parents are very proud when their children are accepted in the SBI (Sekolah Berstandard International) or RSBI (Rintisan Sekolah Berstandar International). What makes SBI or RSBI different from Regular School?

LIA Students Competition

LBPP LIA Cirebon akan menyelenggarakan lomba untuk siswa-siswinya. Ada empat macam lomba yang akan diadakan, yaitu:
1. Talk (for EC 1-6 students)
Peserta lomba adalah siswa level EC (English for Children) level 1-6. Setiap peserta dalam lomba akan menceritakan sebuah kisah yang akan disiapkan oleh panitia. Peserta akan mendapatkan cerita yang harus dihapalkan pada hari Technical Meeting. Waktu untuk setiap peserta adalah 3-5 menit.

2. Testify (for ET 1-12 Students)
Peserta lomba adalah siswa ET (English for Teen) level 1-12. Peserta diwajibkan menceritakan pengalaman pribadinya. Cerita yang disampaikan boleh diberi ilustrasi. Peserta bebas membawa alat bantu apapun untuk mengilustrasikan cerita yang akan disampaikan. Alat-alat dibawa dan dipersiapkan sendiri oleh peserta. Peserta diharapkan mampu menceritakan cerita yang telh dipilih selama minimal 3-5 menit.

3. Speak (for EL-1 -IN-2, CV-1 -CV-2 Students)
Peserta lomba adalah siswa level Elementary 1 hingga Intermediate 2 untuk untuk program EA dan siswas CV1-CV2. Peserta akan menceritakan salah satu gambar yang akan disiapkan panitia (gambar akan ditunjukan ketika technical meeting). Setiap peserta diharapkan menceritakan apa yang mereka lihat dalam gambar selama 3-5 menit. Setiap peserta akan diberikan waktu untuk mempersiapkan ceritanya selama 1 menit.

4. Say (for IN-3 - HI-4, CV-3 - CV-6 Students)
Peserta lomba adalah siswa Intermediate 3 hingga Higher Intermediate 4 untuk program EA, dan CV (Conversation)3 - CV-6. Setiap peserta diwajibkan mempresentasikan salah satu topik yang panitia telah siapkan. Topik akan diberikan pada saat technical meeting. Pada hari perlombaan, setiap peserta akan mempresentasikan topik yang telah diundi sebelumnya di depan 3 juri. Materi presentasi, seperti power point dan gambar serta materi lainnya dipersiapkan sebelum hari perlombaan.

Qualifying Round : Tanggal 9 Agustus 2009
Final : Ditentukan kemudian

Money Can't Buy Everything

In this era, money is one of the important things in our life. Because with money, you can buy a lot of items, from a tract of land until private island. It depends on how much money you have. But, do you believe that money can't buy everything ? Money is not unimportant, but it can't buy everything.

Money is important in our life, especially for our daily need. You can take our daily life as an example. Everyday we need foods such as rice, vegetables, fruits, etc. We can spend 20.000 rupiah – 50.000 rupiah/day for our food necessity. It doesn't include all of our daily need. Of course, you can imagine how much money we can spend everyday.

However, money can't buy a friendship. An example of a person who can prove it is Andrea Hirata. You can see from his novel, Laskar Pelangi. This novel is telling us about the friendship between Ikal and Lintang. Although, at that time, Ikal was a poor child, they can be a good friends and their friendship never ending even though Ikal has been a success person.

Therefore, with money we can have a lot of friends, but it can't buy a friendship. Having an abundant amount of money can secure our future, but it can't buy everything.

Money doesn't Guarantee You to Get Healthy

In this modern day and age, every people need money for their daily need. Therefore, money become one of the important things in our life. But, do you know that money can't buy everything ? Money can buy medicine but not health.

You can see Michael Jackson as an example. He has an abundant amount of money. He can buy everything he wants and secure his family's future. Unfortunately, he got a lot of disease. With his money, he can buy an expensive medicine and calls a professional doctor to heal him. But, on June 25th 2009, he passed away because of hearts attack.

In the other side, you can see a lot of poor people get a good health although they don't have enough money. It won't surprise, because they always go everywhere by their own foots. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, for example, shows that walking four to five miles (6.5 to 8 km) an hour for 45 minutes five times a week helps you live longer.

All in all, money can buy an expensive medicine, but it can't buy health. With money, you can get a professional doctor but it doesn't guarantee you to get healthy.

Money Can Buy Amusements But Not Happines

In this modern day and age, especially in big cities, people have to work hard to make ends meet. Money can buy everytihing what we want. I personally believe that money doesn’t guarantee happines.

An example student have wealth from his parents but his parents always leave him. Although he lives in luxorious home, he has money, he has many car, and he has beautiful clothes, but he always sad. In fact he has what he want, but he can’t enjoy and happy in his life. It can cause because he can’t get love and care from his parent, because his parents very busy, so his parents can’t give love to him.

Therefore, with love from people around us, it can make our happy, although we can’t buy amusements.

Money Can Make or Break People

In this modern day and age, especially in big cities, people have to work hard to make ends meet. As a powerful tool, money can make or break people. It can also be a means to obtain great satisfaction. I personally believe money can make people blind.

As you know, the reason of money can make people blind they are, first money can make people selfish. People have wealth thinking if with money they can’t need help from other people, so they can do what they want without thinking other people feeling. Second, money can make people doesn’t close to God again. It can be because that people thinking they have what they want, so they doesn’t do obligation to the God. They forget to thanks to God. Third, money can make people be big spinders. It cause because with money they can buy what they want.

Therefore, we must carefully if we has money or wealth and we must do obligation to the God. We must used money with something advantages.

Money Can Buy Amusements But Not Happiness

In this modern day money is very important for our live because if people don’t have a lot of money, so people can’t buy anything. However, money can buy amusements but they can’t buy happiness.

An example Bill Gates, even though he smart and he has much money but he can’t buy brain, health, happiness because it’s just from God.

Therefore, having much money can’t get him bliss and contentment. With money, one can purchase the tools for joy and amusements, but not real happiness. I personally believe someone can buy amusements but can’t buy happiness.

Money Can Buy a Bed But Not Sleep

In this morning day people have a lot of money for our live. For example, people can buy a bed but they can’t buy happiness, love family, because it can’t get with money but a people have to work hard to get it.

An example Michael Jackson, eventhough he has much money but he can’t buy happiness and perfectness because happiness and perfectness just from God. However, He can’t buy happiness and perfectness but he always to work hard to cover his weaknesses
